Name: GEORGE VI
Location: Crowngate, Chapel Walk, by Boots
Designed and decorated by: New College, Worcester
George VI is inspired by ideas from students at New College Worcester, all of whom are visually impaired (hence George VI) or blind.
They chose to make a tactile giraffe so it is accessible to everyone in the city. Taking the theme of eyes, students and staff throughout the school have created different textured designs on an eye shape using braille, buttons, beads and other tactile media.
Some of the designs are taken from the eyes which appear in famous pieces of art. The eye theme also echoes the college’s logo.
